When designing and building a house you always have to bear in mind the requirements of the people who will live in it. But on occasions when a house is already built, the new residents have to adjust themselves to the existing design and layout.

Starting from the entrance, this house is built in three levels. The first floor provides a reception hall and a generous living and dining room, which the owners decided to divide into two rooms, creating additional space for entertaining. Also on the first floor is a kitchen with a spacious breakfast area which has been converted into a dining room. Lighting isn’t a problem thanks to the large windows throughout the house, and which have the added benefit of bringing us into close contact with the natural beauty that surrounds the house, affording relaxing views.

The second floor provides two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and a space that can be used as a studio. Ascending to the third level we enter a reception area giving onto a large room with its own bathroom and terrace. We don’t have to enquire too closely to appreciate that the owner enjoys both reading and hunting. Here he has created his own space which he uses both for listening to music and to enjoy his hobbies.

The house is finished in a rustic style and the lively and visually stimulating design ensures that its different areas stand out from each other. The garden to the rear does not need a large amount of work because of the mature trees that surround it, and it manages to create a sense of relaxation.

This house supports the proposition that while architects certainly have to adapt their designs to the needs of their clients, in many cases the residents of a house have to adapt their lifestyles to the available space.

Having the vision, the ability and above all the enthusiasm to decorate your future home is an art because when a family moves into a house that was not designed for them, they must fit their furniture and ornaments into the house’s different spaces. It goes without saying that combining architecture and decoration has to be an exact

fit..
