Audi introduces a vehicle that establishes its supremacy among SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles). The
Audi Q7 combines sportiness and versatility with advanced technology and high-class luxury. On the road, this vehicle shows off the features and driving experience of a sports car, while off road it redefines the possibilities of this class of vehicle. Its attractions are obvious to the observer, and the technology pays tribute to this assertion, on any surface, under any circumstances.

The Audi Q7 establishes a new style. Audi’s typical style characteristics can be seen in the curved roofline and the special relationship between the upper surface of the bodywork and the narrow crystal trim formed by the windows. The dynamic arrowhead form of front of the vehicle and its powerful rear, together with sharply inclined D shaped stanchions, give the car the shape of a coupe. Other elements equally characteristic of Audi’s formal style language are the mid line and the thrust line, which define the car’s side surfaces. The finishing touch comes in the form of the bodywork paint options in two contrasting tones. You can choose from 11 basic colors, three of which are exclusive to the Q7.

At 5,086 millimeters long and with a wheelbase of exactly 3,002 millimeters (width: 1,983 millimeters/ height: 1,737 millimeters), the Q7 leads its competitors in the SUV space. Passengers enjoy exclusive interior comfort and a new dimension in flexibility. The Q7 offers no less than 28 seating and load carrying configurations.

Its three rows of seats provide space for seven people. The legroom available to passengers seated in the second row may be adjusted for each seat individually, and these seats offer the largest amount of legroom of any vehicle in its class. The two rearmost rows of seats fold down to form a completely flat surface providing a load carrying area of 2,035 liters without removing any seats. In its five-seat configuration, the Q7 provides a cargo space of 775 liters, which is also a record for its class.

The Audi Q7 comes available in two powerful engine options. The new 4.2 liter V8 directly injected
FSI petrol engine provides 350 HP and 440 Nm of torque. The 6 cylinders 3.0 TDI uses the latest generation of common rail technology and in line piezo electric injectors. This engine combines a powerful 233 HP and 500 Nm of torque with an amazingly refined ride and excellent fuel economy.

Both engine versions come with a 6-gear tiptronic transmission. As you would expect, the Audi Q7 series also employs quattro permanent four-wheel drive. The Torsen differential delivers the power of the engine to all four wheels both on and off road. This ensures the highest levels of traction and lateral stability, which are essential in order to achieve the optimum driving dynamic and the safest ride. This transmission configuration has now been in use for 25 years in more than two million vehicles, winning too many rally and race track victories to number.

Like the Audi RS4, the Audi Q7 employs the latest generation of Torsen differential, using as standard a front/rear distribution ratio of 40:60. This, combined with the almost equal weight distribution over the two axles, gives the driver an even greater sense of the vehicle’s agility and a degree of steering precision that is almost completely free of transmission drag.

Another factor which stands out among its many fine qualities is the Audi A7’s suspension configuration, which incorporates many aluminum components and uses independent suspension with double wishbones front and rear. The steel sprung suspension and double shock absorbers have also been adapted to ensure both sports performance as well as a high degree of comfort even when driving in mountainous terrain. The inclined position of the rear suspension and shock absorber unit reduces the build height and therefore provides more space in the rear passenger compartment.

Standard equipment includes 18-inch light alloy wheels using 235/60 tires (255/55 tires for the 8 cylinder model). All versions of the Q7 also allow the option of using 19 or 20-inch wheels.

Adaptive air suspension is also available as an option (but comes as standard in the eight cylinder
version). The combination of pneumatic suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers is a perfect fusion providing extreme sports handling and extraordinary comfort. Dynamic stabilization –fitted as standard–, reduces longitudinal body movement to a minimum.

The amount of ground clearance varies from 180 millimeters in standing mode to 240 millimeters in Lift; this enables the vehicle to handle the most demanding of conditions with ease. The Offroad
mode, giving a ground clearance of 205 millimeters and also providing special settings for the shock absorbers, enables driving across mountainous terrain. One of the most significant comfort
features arises from the ability to lower the height of the cargo space, thereby making it much easier to load heavy objects into the trunk.

However the advanced technology of the new Audi Q7 is not limited to the transmission and suspension systems but also extends to the controls. All Q7 versions come equipped with the innovative Multi Media Interface (MMI) system, which has been so well received in the A8 and A6 models and can be extended to work on two levels with many additional functions.

Inside this fully featured SUV the driver will benefit from a number of innovative information systems available as standard on a manufactured vehicle for the first time.

We are referring to a radar system that assists with changing lanes, called Audi side assist, and Audi’s advanced parking system which uses visual and audible signals as well as a rear facing camera for reversing.

The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) also provides many additional functions such as descent control for use on inclines. An additional offroad function optimizes braking and traction when driving on gravel surfaces. Another function controls the tension when towing and reduces the risk of the towed load fishtailing when the brakes are applied sharply.

With so many features this car is not just crying out to be driven but is also a real pleasure to own.
