One of the world’s top brands deserves an emblem that is fit for its rank, designed by one of the fashion industry’s leading names. Louis Vuitton demonstrated its grasp of this principle in entrusting the design of its latest line of timepieces to Marc Jacobs, the enfant terrible of the design world and one of the brightest stars of Paris’s runways.
To be completely accurate this is not the first time that Jacobs has designed a watch for Vuitton. Twelve years ago he did design one, but only the company’s CEO Monsieur Bernard Arnault got to see it. This was during the time that the house decided to enter the jewelry segment, complementing their luggage line.
Today, 12 years later, Jacobs brings the world the Emprise watch and now the public will recognize that it was well worth the wait to see this designer’s work for Louis Vuitton. He used the brand’s resources and features, and incorporated them into the piece while giving it his very own special touch. In this way, the square lines of the Vuitton trunk are easily recognizable in the watch’s design. The emblematic locks are also visible in the bracelet’s clasp. And the face bears the world famous LV logo, the mere presence of which is evidence of good taste, refinement and class.
The Emprise is an essentially delicate watch and this is reflected in its case which measures just 30mm by 30mm. The delicacy of its design is not only evident in the two models intended specifically for ladies, but also in the men’s version and in the third model that combines contrasting themes so that it can be used by either men or women.
The Swiss-made movement pays tribute to the scrupulous craftsmanship of its creators, who bring it to life in a process that is just as meticulous as in any laboratory. Each part is assembled with minute attention to detail, guaranteeing that the watch’s owner will experience the highest level of performance.
The precious stones that are characteristic of the Emprise are also applied in Switzerland. The watch is set with tiny diamonds using a paving technique, so that when they are mounted onto the chassis, (made of 18 carat gold) they look just like paving stones in the tiniest of pathways. Buyers can choose between a version completely covered in diamonds or a more discreet model where the stones are set around the face of the watch, framing it.
Whichever model is selected, anybody flaunting an Emprise watch on their wrist can be absolutely sure that they are wearing a unique piece that is elegant and has real personality, true to the philosophy of luxury and good taste that has always characterized the house of Vuitton. They can also enjoy the knowledge that they are showing off an exclusive Marc Jacobs design, something that people sit up and take notice of in the world of fashion. Both characteristics make the Emprise a real collector’s piece.
