Everything is subjective. Of course there are concrete realities but on the other hand, how much they depend on how we respond to them? Take the street sweeper’s son, the one who we assume has little chance of succeeding. But then, wow, look at how he managed to graduate from Harvard. Impossible! How did he do that if his father was “just a street sweeper”?

But I will say that subjectivity is to a great extent about how we live from day to day. At the moment much of the media is talking about crisis, and even though there is an underlying reality, it is also true that everything depends on how we look at it, how we respond to it, how we carry on with our lives and don’t let it get us down. Life is full of ups and downs and if we think that in other parts of the world many grandmothers, grandfathers, mothers and fathers had to go through long periods of war, not to mention having to put up with those harsh winters, this so called “crisis” isn’t the end of the world. So let’s be encouraged, we are a long way from being down and out; on the contrary we can learn a lot from what we are going through now as we get on with it. The words crisis, success and failure should not exist in any language, let alone in the dictionary. They should be replaced by the word “experience” so we can move on with our lives with more tranquility and less stress about what the bogeyman of success or failure might bring.

Enjoy life, because nothing lasts forever!
