While the sun rises in one part of the world, it sets here. Torrential rains create vast lakes, while in other places the fierce summer sun cracks the earth. Some people try and make peace, while others are engaged in wars. Some people marry, others get divorced. The dying dream of recovery, while those who have their health hardly every appreciate it. This is life, these are its cycles.
One day we may be enjoying a golden era, while the next we are overcome by a crisis. And so life goes on. We are all on different pathways, some more exposed than others; some straighter, others more winding, and none of us knows where we will end up or how we will get there. Full of dreams and hopes, some of which will be fulfilled and others not, as we walk along life’s highway. And how can we know what is the right way to take? Which pathway will be sure to take us to our preferred destination? This is an impossible question to answer. And it is here, in this uncertainty, where the magic of our journey lies, in overcoming the obstacles that we encounter, understanding how to enjoy getting to know ourselves better through our experiences, this is the pleasure of having lived a full life. A life that is not certain, a life with setbacks as well as successes, with doubts and certainties, happiness and sadness, health and sickness, with everything that we call both good and bad. Who can say that this has not been their experience as well?
Let's live, enjoy, and learn from our experiences, but most of all, let’s do it the best we can: in a honest, considerate way, in the knowledge that we are all connected, and even though we may not want to accept it, what you do affects me or our environment in either a positive or negative way. So let’s be more careful how we behave, and abandon the philosophy that puts “me first”! |
